In Europe, 1 out of 3 employees were considering quitting their job in the near future according to a McKinsey survey from December 2022. In the United States, ~4.5 million people quit their jobs in November 2021 alone. It's not a surprise; if you're here, you've probably experienced the fake culture and the outdated system and are looking for a new opportunity. It's not your fault that your productivity and performance decrease when you don't feel valued and respected—you aren't lazy, it's just hard to care when they don't give a shit about you. Your lack of engagement and motivation is not a surprise when you feel disengaged from your work—it sucks to feel like you are invisible. You feel stuck and think that this is how it will be and that it's better to accept your reality, retirement isn't that far anyway! I know how all that feels because I have been there. If you want to know how you can start changing that by taking small, actionable steps toward your interests—even if you don't think you have any—and discovering what truly fulfills you, glue your eyes to the screen (not literally of course…) Feeling stuck? You're not aloneWhen I moved to Stockholm in 2016 I started working at a warehouse. I was happy. I had to wake up early in the middle of winter, and wait for the bus in the snow and freezing temperatures. I had to travel for about one and a half hours, to get to a job where I walked the entire day and then got back, exhausted after a long day. But you know what? I was happy. I was happy because I had hope again. I could make money, meet new people, and have a life again. But that happiness didn't last long though. After some months of doing the same every day:
I asked myself the question: "Is this all there is to life?" The pain of living a lifeless life—such irony—made me want to look for a change. I started asking myself: Where can I find inspiration?
What can I do to change my situation?
How can I learn new skills without having to go to university and take a student loan?
There were no sudden ideas, but I started exploring new podcasts, and since I could work with my headphones on all day, it was the perfect timing. One day, I found a podcast that transformed how I looked at my life, it was the inspiration I needed to change. "The School of Greatness" by Lewis Howes. I waited excitedly for the new episodes to come out. Most of the guests shared inspiring stories and resources that helped me learn new skills, adopt new habits, and understand myself and others better. I started to learn about business and entrepreneurship, and I knew this was the path to go. I tried many different things back then. I looked into dropshipping, e-commerce, content creation, video production, and web development. But I was just a beginner and I didn't know what to create, how to do it, and why I wanted to. I kept exploring, with some kind of direction, but still without clear goals. My first take on entrepreneurship was buying used typewriters and reselling them online. My best find was one I bought for 20$ and sold for 85$. As I kept exploring interests and skills I often thought I had found "the thing" that would make me successful. It didn't. But I never gave up, I knew I'd figure out a way. And today, everything I have been learning makes sense. I have learned many skills:
I learned those skills because of my interests in:
And they help me a lot to be good at:
In short, it's the base of any business. The ingredients to create a lifestyle with autonomy, fulfillment, and fun. It takes a lot of time to learn all that, and although you don't need to know it all, it's very valuable to have a basic understanding of all these areas—you don't need to be good at all of them, but knowing how things work gives you more power. Follow your curiosity and make it your guide in this life. By following it and exploring new interests, you can build the life you desire. This journey starts with understanding your interests and skills, and how they can be leveraged to create opportunities for yourself. The point of no returnIf you are here, you most likely have dreams and a desire to create a more meaningful life. People don't like to hear this, but it's the truth: No one will do the work for you. Only you can. You must take care of your mental health and well-being because it will be the difference between making it or breaking it. You deserve opportunities for growth, but they won't be presented on a silver plate, you have to look for them. Here's what's going to happen if you don't start taking action: Prices will increase and your salary won't increase that much. Your purchase power will be lower, and lower. You will work more for less. So it's for you to decide if you want to stay in an environment where emails hope to find you well or if you want to start changing that reality. The price of comfort is mediocrity. The missing piece of my puzzleA couple of years ago, I was creating inspirational videos to share my journey, but I struggled to come up with engaging content. I found myself staring at a blank screen, feeling overwhelmed and uninspired. I wanted to create something meaningful, I had a lot of ideas, but I didn't know how to make sense of them and turn them into something tangible—I felt overwhelmed and ended up creating nothing. It wasn’t until I discovered the power of writing and taking notes of my thoughts and ideas that I found the clarity I was missing. Writing allowed me to brainstorm freely, organize my ideas, and ultimately create videos that resonated with my audience. I have developed systems to make the process of writing content more effective and I have also finally found a writing tool that makes note-taking useful—I will be writing more about this soon too. Writing is also how my mentor went from $800,000 a year with a large X (former Twitter) following to ~$4 million in 2023 with a diversified audience. Of course, it wasn't the only thing that made him reach that level of success, but it was his foundation. Writing was the foundation that allowed him to articulate his vision clearly, connect with a broader audience, and diversify his income streams through various content formats. Now I invite you to make it part of your skillset too. Make it a habit. Write a little bit every day and you won't believe how much your life will change in just 6 months. Put away distractions. Focus. Master writing and every other skill followsI'm glad you made the right decision to choose growth over comfort, so let's start transforming your life. Writing will help you express your thoughts, so you can understand yourself better by putting words to your thoughts and feelings, not only that, but it will help you express your needs, what you want, and why. Clarity precedes success — Robin Sharma Writing is also the foundation of many other skills because it plays a crucial role in communication, learning, and critical thinking. Why? Because all content is an expression of energy, and to express yourself you need to communicate. To communicate, you share your ideas through some kind of medium. When you speak, your voice creates sound waves that travel through the air. The listener's ears pick up those sounds, and their brain turns them into words that they can understand. Writing is the best way to develop ideas and arrange them in different ways to achieve different results. But why? Because writing helps to clarify your thoughts, leading to better ideas and decisions. When you write, you force yourself to organize your thoughts and articulate them clearly, which is essential in any form of communication and creation. 7 Steps to transform your life todayNow, how can you use writing to start finding a solution to create an income while doing something meaningful? Follow these 7 steps:
Now you know the first skill you need to practice, the one that will help you bring clarity, is writing. SummaryThis time we explored:
